Travel for Change
Our Values Giving Back
More and more people are choosing to travel, and increasingly to more remote destinations – while this means the impacts of tourism are constantly growing, they don’t have to be negative! We have a significant responsibility and opportunity to not only minimize the negative consequences of tourism, but make a long-lasting positive impact too by giving back. From protecting the environment and its animals, to educating others and supporting the communities you visit – be a responsible tourist and you can change the world as you travel. Give back with us.

Local Communities
Where your money goes is important, we work hard to ensure our local expenses remain in the communities we’re visiting. From our local guides and accommodation to the families we work with in remote areas – each guest we can bring to a community brings an incredible opportunity to help support their local economy.

Animal Welfare & Conservation
It’s very common, especially in Asia where the wildlife is so abundant, to see animals abused for tourism. We work very closely with responsible suppliers to make sure we never support any activity that mistreats animals. We also work with animal welfare organisations to support healthy local animal populations.

Transformational Travel
We believe that travel changes you; one of the things we want to inspire in our travellers is a change in how you travel. From teaching our guests how to protect the coral reefs we visit, to inspiring them to organize their own beach clean ups in the future – we practice what we preach, so the rest of the travel community will follow.

Environmental Protection
Travelling the world is close to our heart, which means so is protecting it as we do. Join us and be part of the solution, not the problem! From coastal clean ups and limiting all plastic usage on our trips to partnering with eco-friendly suppliers and trusts, you can minimize your travel footprint with us!

Local Communities
School visit in the Philippines on tour
Our sponsored Port Barton basketball team
Visiting rural schools in Sri Lanka
We've worked with Boboy's local business since 2016

Supporting Local Businesses
The reach that we have by bringing groups of travellers to underfunded areas of the world is huge. We work with amazing people like Boboy and his family in Port Barton (if you’ve ever met them – you’ll know what legends they are!) your trip will have more than just an impact on you, you can change lives with your tourism.

Equality & Careers
We work with women’s cooperatives to encourage equality and careers in communities.

Sponsorships
One Life Adventures gives sponsorship opportunities to communities in greater need. An example is sponsoring a local basketball team in Port Barton, The Philippines to provide them with uniforms and equipment.

Natural Disaster Relief
For many years we have watched as natural disasters have hit the incredible locations that we visit. The locals affected are the people that have always supported us and our guests with care and hospitality. So it comes without question for us to support them during these times of hardship.

Local charities, schools & Programs
We work together to fund projects through donations. By visiting underfunded communities on our tours, our guests can bring along school supplies to local schools and can directly donate to where it’s needed most. Past projects have included building a new daycare centre and contributing to huge infrastructure improvements.
Environmental Protection

We take part in the production of ecobricks in Vietnam
In Bali, we educate our guests with the Biorock program
We offer eco-friendly products to reduce plastic waste on tours
We have several beach cleanups we do with guests to reduce beach litter

Beach Clean-ups
To support the local environment where we travel, we incorporate beach clean-ups into our tour itinerary at 3 destinations

Ecofriendly Suppliers & Trusts
Whereever we visit we strive to work with businesses and trusts which support the environment and work towards improving local ecosystems

Reducing Plastics
We wouldn’t say we hate plastic, but… we really hate plastic. We’ve worked really hard to limit plastic usage on our trips and we do more than just talk about it. We’ve made our Philippines, Sri Lanka and Indonesia tours plastic free by working with suppliers to cut out plastic usage and introduce refill stations at every possible opportunity.

Tree Planting
We support reforestation with onetreeplanted.org. This means for every tour seat booked we commit to pay for a tree being planted.

Responsible Tourism
Ensuring that animals are not mistreated for the sake of tourism is an important ethical consideration. To promote responsible and ethical tourism, it’s essential for us to work with suppliers and organisations that adhere to high animal welfare standards.Â

Wildlife Educational Experiences
We seek out and include experiences on our tours that educate our guests about wildlife conservation and the importance of preserving natural habitats.

Supporting Sanctuaries and Rescues
We take travelers to visit genuine animal sanctuaries and rescue organisations that prioritise the welfare of animals over profits.

Paws in Paradise
We also started a project called Paws In Paradise, where we work with an animal welfare organisation to organise free spay and neuter events for local animals.
Transformational Travel
Guests take part in a river blessing by a local Brahmin, India
Guests experience a traditional Kendo Class in Japan
Vanya from Indonesia in the Philippines as a part of the Travelship Program
Guest taking part in a ritual at a water temple in Bali

Cultural Exchanges
When we visit local schools in rural communities we offer cultural exchanges which deepen the bond and understanding of our guests with the country they are visiting. This goes both ways as our young local students also get the opporunity to learn and grow.

Education & Enrichment
Traveling with One Life is about growing as a human. One of the ways we embrace this value is by teaching our guests the essential details of the country’s history and culture. Respect and understanding go a long way when it comes to cross-cultural experiences.

OLA Travelship Program
Travelling is in our blood; it’s what makes us who we are. We are passionate about providing unique and Transformational Travel experiences. We think everyone should have the chance to travel. So every year, we send someone who otherwise maybe wouldn’t have been able to travel to his or her dream destination. The inspiration for this idea was the legendary Ravi, one of our local guides from Sri Lanka who always dreamed of going to Japan. Anyone that’s travelled with Ravi knows just how much he deserved this trip and we realised this was a gift we could give to someone really meritorious every year.
