Itinerary
Day 1 – Head to the Maldives! (Day 12 of Sri Lanka Tour)
Today you’ll head to the Maldives (flight not included). Check in & after you get settled your local guide will give you a tour of Male, get acquainted with the history and tradition of Maldivians as you see the capital!
Accommodation: Twin/Double Rooms – Newtown Inn Hulhumale (or similar)

Day 2 – Villimale Island: snorkelling with conservationists, then on to Maafushi Island
After breakfast in the hotel, you will head to Villimale island and snorkel with local conservationists and gain an understanding of the Maldivian ecosystems and conservation challenges. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Maafushi island. After your check-in it is time to go local with a Hedika Experience.

Day 3 – Maafushi Island: Free Day
Today you get to relax by the beach, go diving, shop for souvenirs or simply explore the stunning surrounding area that is Maafushi. There are a multitude of activities that you can take advantage of on your day off.

Day 4 – Maafushi Island: Half day snorkel
This morning enjoy the underwater beauty of the Maldives. We stop at a sandbank for a picnic lunch with time to swim and snorkel in the lagoon or just lie back and relax.
Heading back to Maafushi we will cruise the Indian Ocean in search of dolphins. Late afternoon there is the option to join a tree planting activity, helping to bring greenery back to the newly reclaimed area of the island.

Night Stays
For your first night, you’ll be staying at the Newtown Inn Guesthouse in Hulhumale. Enjoy a great location as well as access to an authentic Indian Resturant onsite with a roof terrace for dining.
Next, and for the remainder of your Maldives stay, you will sleep at the Stingray Beach Inn. This boutique hotel is on Maafushi Island and you will have access to a restaurant and bar onsite.

FAQs
What is the age range of this add-on?
Do I need a visa?
The journey from Colombo to Male airport takes roughly one hour. Thankfully, entry into the Maldives does not require a prior visa and based on immigration requirements, entry permits will be granted on arrival.
Visitors of all nationalities are granted entry with a free 30 day visa provided you have proof of departure and a confirmed hotel reservation or $100 USD in cash.
How will I reach the hotel from the airport?
Your local tour guide will greet you at the airport. They will help you transfer to the hotel in Hulhumale for your first night.
The speedboat transfer will depart 3x daily at:
09:30 // 13:30 // 17:30 (departing from Jetty No.5). We recommend checking your flight arrival time in accordance with these departure times.
Can I get out spending money when I arrive in The Maldives?
The currency used in the Maldives is the Rufiyaa (Rf) however most visitors never even see rufiyaa, as US dollars are accepted everywhere.
We highly recommend withdrawing USD prior to arriving in the Maldives as there is only 1 ATM on Maafushi Island which will only dispense Maldivian currency.
Alternatively, you will have time to withdraw money in Male at the airport.
How much spending money should I bring?
On average our travellers find that they spend around $30 USD a day. Some optional activities like water sports on day 3 can cost up to $50 USD per person.
Can I drink alcohol while I'm there?
The Maldives is an Islamic nation and alcohol can only be enjoyed in the privacy of a resort or at the airport. In some special circumstances it is allowed on tourist boats that operate.
Can I wear a bikini?
You are able to wear a bikini in the resorts and when out on a boat but not on the first night in Hulhumale.
