Feb 18, 2025 | Japan, Travel Tips

Planning a trip to Japan but not sure whether to choose our Classic or Essentials adventure? Both tours follow the same iconic route through Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, but they’re designed for two very different travel styles.

The Classic 10-day Japan tour is our original, award-winning experience packed with cultural activities, unique stays and seamless travel from start to finish. The Essentials 9-day Japan tour gives you the same expert guidance and transport between destinations, but with more free time, fewer inclusions and a lower upfront cost so you can explore Japan your way.

If you’re wondering which Japan tour is best for your budget, independence level and travel goals, this guide breaks down the key differences, who each trip is perfect for and how to choose the right adventure for you.

If you’re planning a longer adventure, both styles also come in extended versions: the 14 Day Japan Classic tour and the 13 Day Japan Essentials tour, giving you more time to explore deeper without changing the travel style.
